I am in need of a new belt. Do the assembled LLers have any suggestions?
Cheers

Depending on the style you're after, but Tanner Bates might be worth looking into. I have a messenger bag from them made from a beautiful, vegetable tanned vintage hide and crafted to the highest standards (at least to my eye). And they are very pleasant to deal with as well
Best,
Søren

I have a 'thing' for handcrafted leather. One of my Great Grandfathers was a saddlemaker, and after the petrol engine replaced horses as the motive power for transporting goods around London he moved on to making luggage. He died a handful of years before I was born but I grew up with his craft all around me. The small case he made to carry the family papers in to the shelters during the Blitz which my Grandmother later using for her knitting, the neatly stitched handle of the coal scuttle. And the keyfob my Mother carries to this day.
I can also recommend Equus, I have 2 of their belts and our pooch sports an Equus collar. I can also recommend Tim Hardy for belts, his designs have more of an equestrian feel to them. The Equus I wear with corduroy and the Hardy with Cavalry Twill. The standard of leather and of construction on both is everything you could hope for, belts to last a lifetime and beyond.

Equus leather. Charlie Trevor is a pleasure to deal with, and the products have never disappointed. I've had belts and watch straps from him, and can warmly recommend both.

Balint in Vienna made two excellent belts for me a little over a year ago. Edges turned in on both the outside and lining. Most makers just finish the edge and it eventually cracks.
However, I've recently read some reports that they closed?

I received an Oak Bark belt from Tanner & Bates. Very nice, rustic, sturdy belt well suited for denim and boots as well as cords and tweeds.
I am awaiting a belt from Equus...will report later.
Cheers

Making leather belts is one of my favorite hobbies. A few years back a very well known leather company in North America called Tandy Leather offered courses about how to make leather belts. Of course, the company sells leather, dyes..
I attended one of these courses (10 hours). I have since made at least a hundred real leather belts for myself and my family. It is very easy.
It is an authentic pleasure to spend time making belts. It takes me 6-8 hours to carve, dye and finish it.
