A while ago I saw a dinner jacket with watermarked silk/ moire facings on the lapels, I think they were antique, a chap's father's from pre-war.

I quite like the idea of this, but I cannot find any cloth merchant who sells it, most say they stopped 20 years ago.

Does anybody here know of where I could find some, either in black or midnight.

thanks

Wow - that is going to be an impressive garment.

Im toying with the idea of a 'spare' DJ since I have 5m of 7/8oz mohair sitting around staring at me : I have a DB version in 11oz barathea which I find quite warm and I wanted something lighter.

Is your choice of cloth driven by the likely drape of something heavy, or do you happen to go to a lot of open-air events?

best

One interesting facing I have seen on a 1920-1930's tailcoat is that which resembles that of a square weave.

For an idea of what moiré facings look like, there are few examples online. Here is one from a ‘creative’ dinner jacket.
