A short post to introduce myself as a new London member who has thus far dipped only a toenail let alone a toe into the sea of bespoke...

Welcome. I think you will find the membership here exceedingly well informed (not including msyelf) and not a little opinionated (including myself ).

I expect that within a couple of years, you might be the proud owner of 2-3 peak-lapelled, 15-Oz., DB suits that reference Apparrel Arts illustrations from the 1930s... Just a guess...

The immediate decision is a wedding suit (mine) for a church wedding followed by a day night reception on the Amalfi Coast at end September.... when I buck up the courage I may post my initial thoughts!

For the suit I'm thinking a dark blue single breasted single button ( slightly lower to allow a longer lapel) peaked lapel jacket. White shirt with a silver or pale grey macclesfield tie. Big question is the fabric for both the suit and the shirt. Average temp at that time in Amalfi will be 22-23 degrees.

Any thoughts or suggestions, anyone?

Welcome! From the LL fabrics I would consider the Piuma or Brisa which are tight, open weaves ideal for warmer climates. The Piuma is more of a Summer fabric while the Brisa is a bit denser, but still wears cool.

One thing I would consider is the peaked lapel. I had a peak lapel made on a SB suit one time and unfortunately regretted it. While sleek and polished, the look can be a bit trendy while a regular notch lapel never goes out of style. Either way, enjoy the process!

It depends on how warm you run. 21C (70 Fahrenheit) is about my tipping point toward needing warm weather clothing, but if you go a little cooler, you could do something elegant and crisp in more conventional midweights. Harrisons Fine Classics, for example.

Beware, however-- if the humidity is high, then you need to recalculate everything, and Slewfoot's recommendations will be a better place to start. I'm in London today with 18C temperatures but 60% humidity, and my shirt was getting a little damp in the afternoon.

Other warm-weather options: light weight Finmeresco, Holland & Sherry Crispaire. Or just an ordinary tropical 8-9oz from Lessers.

Slewfoot and Concordia, many thanks for your suggestions. i will investigate accordingly. Perhaps i'm making too much of the weather issue however your suggestions of warmer weather cloths are opening up a new line of education! As a newbie, may i ask how one can view a range of the LL cloths before purchasing?

Concordia is right - at these temperatures, I start wearing my 13 & 16 oz worsteds... I would not consider summer cloth.

Hah! I've got one in mohair. It gets the call for summertime social occasions. Just right for the sun, casualness, and celebratory air of summer. This from a man who identifies with sweaters and tweeds.
