Beautiful. As the proprietor of a quite distinctly non-pair of feet myself, I can relate to your reasons for going to Cleverley. I have only just collected a pair of captoes from J.P Myhre, and it is truly glorious how the shoes envelop my slim heel and instep like a second skin while simultaneously accomodating my... stout forefeet. Mine are not so sleek as yours, however. I have always preferred a round toe shape visually, but I am beginning to wonder whether a soft chisel such as yours would suit my feet's anatomy better. What are Cleverley's prices these days, if you do not mind divulging?

Oh, and do you have anything to say on the pegging on the toe of the sole? How is it expected to stand up versus plain leather or flush fitted metal tap?

Does the lacing close entirely over the instep when you tie the shoes? From the photos, it looks like it might not, but as you are not wearing the shoes one cannot be certain. It should close entirely, of course, and do so without excessive pulling (i.e. when tightening and tying as you would normally). Otherwise, if you like the last shape and the design, I can hardly see what there is to improve on.

(I would still like to hear your thoughts on the pegged toe tip. How come you chose that over plain toe/metal tap? How do the guys at Cleverley expect it to perform?)

it is a beautiful pair of shoes, no doubt. In my humble opinion, you should now start wearing them. I will be interested to hear from you in a couple of months about how well they wear and how comfortable you feel. The truth of the pudding lies in the eating

My frank critique is that you have a really finely designed example of a balmoral and that anything you might change would be different but not really better. Beautiful shoes.

Along with David, I am interested in how they wear and whether they meet your expectations for that elusive "feel".

My only personal critique is the slightly Cuban shape of the heel but this is a purely personal opinion and we all have our own points of view. The absence of any brogueing to the top part of the shoe gives a clean modern look to a classic design.
