I was just having a bit of fun one afternoon with Matthew & Andrea, explaining how I could draft a jacket pattern for Matthew just by using his shoe as the only guide. Needless to say they asked me to prove it....
We have posted the videos on our blog, Steed's View which can be found at the below link.
These videos have also been posted on to our new YouTube channel that Matthew has created called Steed's View Channel..We will post any videos that we make in the future here as well.
The link for this new YouTube channel is also below.
Thanks and hope you all enjoy the videos.

I'm afraid I missed the point regarding the drawing of the pattern.
I loved Steed's pleated waistcoats though.

Dear Edwin, Pierre or Charlie,
S.O.S. I humbly beg any of you to illuminate me regarding the drafting of a pattern based only on a shoe. Is it a joke I fail to grasp? Or is it really a marvelous feat by a gifted cutter? Perhaps a combination of both?

Dear Hectorm,
Like I said previously, I was just having a bit of fun with Matthew & Andrea, explaining how I could draft a jacket pattern for Matthew, just by using his shoe as the only guide and them challenging me to do so.
Normally 12 or so measurements would be taken for drafting a jacket pattern, including chest, waist & seat. I merely used the shape of the shoe, the size (9) & the length it measured (12) to accomplish the result you saw but I think the fact that when I laid the pattern on top of Matthews real pattern, it was a near perfect match, apart from the sleeve being narrower at the elbow and bottom, which I probably would have widen if I had a closer look and a bit more time.
Hope this has helped.
Best regards,
Edwin DeBoise

Edwin, I do not like to go off of your topic but I want to say that I admire, very much , your soft simple unforced hand. The high armhole and what I would call a piped sleeve and the cumfortable natural shoulder. Nice on the neck.Very old school... Unforced. FS

Dear Edwin:
thank you very much for taking the time.
Although your warning was not to take it too seriously, I stand very impressed indeed. I also enjoyed Steed´s website a lot.
My next time in London I´ll walk down the steps to your store on SR.
Merry Christmas

I guess I have a love of shoes and I would like to believe every outfit starts with the shoe. Not so clear on the science of the jacket/shoe but a fascinating concept altogether.
