Recessed Spread Collar

I was recently in London on business and had time to visit the Row. When I was at the Kilgour store I noticed the salesman's spread-collar seemed to sit farther back on his neck and collar-bone, giving him a more fitted and distinguished look. I noticed this on a few other men in the area too. Part of this was might have been the natural result of a fairly strong spread collar but the shirt also seemed to cut in a way that it sat farther back. is this possible or am I confused? Has anyone else noticed this or know what the style is called?
It was a pretty cool look and I would be interested in have a few made up.

sounds like you're describing an extreme spread collar.

The link diverts to Google: Is this your intent or must one search for that? Guidance would be appreciated on which site one should visit.

One of the smarter youngsters in our office wears something that sounds similar. I think he gets them RTW from Thomas Pink, we certainly don't pay him enough to afford bespoke

Flashy. Ruins your so called V-zone.
Ralph Lauren markets the look. As does Udeshi and Crombie. More often than not, this kind of collar calls too much attention to itself.

This collar is striking for sure but too severe for me. I would prefer that the spread be as wide as possibe yet still cover the collar band which,IMO,is too obvious in this arrangement.

Thank you for your replies. The shirt I saw the salesman at Kilgour and others around town wearing wasn't an extreme cutaway collar. It was a normal spread collar. The collar wasn't that severe. Unfortunately, I am not articulating myself very well, and am not finding a good photo online. It may have just been a really well fitted shirt. If I find a pic I'll post it.
