I tried to post this as a reply to the shirt collar thread in the Best of Bespoke forum, but I was unable to upload attachments there. I therefore post it here instead:

The image below is of my fifth Turnbull and Asser sample shirt and shows the collar I finally settled with. I have been giving shirt collars a lot of thought recently, as it is, as pointed out in the shirt collar thread referred to above, what makes or breaks an outfit.

Any comments, positive as negative, are welcomed.

I think the points could be a little bit longer, a little bit more closed and a little bit more tie space.

Bond and Beyond , thanks for sharing . I would like to see a broader photo to be able to know if I like it . I can not easily relate the collar to the rest of you in that photo. A component looses its significance when it stands away from the whole and can be examined only in relation to rest of the components and the result they produce as a whole .

Costi gave you sound collar advice. The T & A collars that stand out in my mind are those from the early 80s. Prince Michael of Kent wears something very similar. it has longer points, more tie space and is more closed compared to yours.

Do you have a long neck? It seems you might have from the suit pictures you posted. You might want a higher collar on your shirt and coat.

Thanks Michael (and Costi). Unfortunately I do not possess a long neck, it is quite short as T&A like to comment on every visit. The collar is therefore as high as T&A are willing to make for my short neck

The first sample shirt did have quite a lot of tie space. We reduced this on subsequent sample shirts.

I will on my next order (waiting for the first six shirts with the collar in the pics above now) ask for longer collar points, and perhaps making the cutaway abit narrower (and therefore also include slightly more tie space).

On the second photo it looks like you don't have a high neck ... I share the same structure so I wouldn't go for a higher collar , but I would go for a longer pointed one . I am a bit mediterranean on this , meaning I think a mans collar should look masculine and small collars don't in my opinion.
