They are happy to work with your own cloth.
To meet the timetable below, you will need to ensure that they have your cloth on hand at the time measurements are taken. Therefore, either bring your own cloth to Rome or ensure that they pre-order it for you and that it is with them at the time of your first visit.
Time to complete a suit:
basted fitting: 3 days after measurements taken
forward fitting: 7 days following basted fitting
final fitting and delivery: 4-6 days following forward fitting
Your suit will be largely complete following the forward fitting. They are able to ship the final suit to you in case you are unavailable in Rome for a final fitting.
Opening Hours:
Caraceni are closed all of August.
End of July is also very busy for them; they are finishing their exisiting orders prior to their August holiday.
Therefore, if you are in Rome starting mid-July, they may be unable to meet the above 15 day timetable.

I have a couple of Fox flannels and the LL Coops tweed from which I will likely choose. One of the flannels is a fantastic brown gray chalk with crimson/rust stripe. The other is a unique gray check with checks in charcoal and light gray with an orange overcheck. My thought is that they, like the Coops tweed are simpatico with the Caraceni cut. The Caraceni Roma silhouette is lean, minimalist and elegant. In my view, the most elegant silhouette made. Simple and pure in its line. Quite formal and precise. It is virtually invisible to all but the cognoscenti.
You will need to consider your choice of cloth carefully to highlight the Caraceni's virtues and what you want to convey.

I was in Rome once, sitting at the Spanish Steps with my dog, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, waiting for the Brunette and the Little Brunette, when a woman came dashing towards me, saying, almost screaming, 'ahhh, piccolo San Bernadino!!' I thought it was one of the funniest things I heard from a stranger. The WTF look on my dog's face whilst being enthusiastically cuddled by a strange woman with big hair was priceless. 
I am infact looking for a new dog and would welcome suggestions from knowledgeable dog people.
I need a small size dog, suitable for apartment living in a city.

Uppercase, the amusing limerick aside, I think a beagle should feature at the top of your list of candidates. Speaking of sexual needs, one of my professors at university had an old Siberian Husky named Bandit that usually accompanied him. Bandit had a 'thing' for my left leg and had a habit of mounting it whilst I was seated.
Did you try changing your cologne? Or maybe he had a thing for flannel...
