Double-Retraction: Weston Chasse

I wrote about getting the shoes directly from France. Then I retracted the information. Well, now I double-retract it (sic?). In fact, you can get the shoes inexpensively from France.

Chasse cost in USA: $1795 plus sales tax plus delivery
Chasse cost from France: $1006 plus duty, normally very small

That is the final answer, I just pulled the trigger on it (plus the Yachting). Total cost without duty, $1511. And the woman who helped me was a lot warmer than the salesmen at Weston NYC, at least on the phone.

If the shoes purchased in France were $1006, what did the additional $500 you state you paid to cover? Surely not shipping!

I think he bought two pairs of shoes - the Chasse and the Yachting.

I paid no duty in fact. The shoes fit very well and I am happy with both of them, though truth be told I might have had second thoughts had I seen the Yachting first. It will make a nice summer weekend shoe, something I needed. I had intended it as an elegant boat shoe, but it just is not constructed that way.
