CJ Villiers or Vass Therasianer on this "squared-off" P2 last that they appear to have made for me? The cost is going to be the same I am sure. We are talking about dark brown calfskin. If I ordered the Vass I would get it with a double sole for more versatility. I think the Villiers is on a single sole (but I am not sure). Plus of the Villiers is that I can get it in a few days. Plus of the Vass is that it is unique and I know it is comfortable, though I have nothing but good things to say about my pair of CJ Seymour Hand-Grades.

Do you feel that there are guidelines for the sort of trousers to be worn with dress boots, so as not to look incongruous? I'd estimate a straight leg, with minimal taper or kick, and a relatively high cut, enough to minimise the break (and show off some boot) but not so much as to look pseudo-military. Pinstripes a plus?

I'm keen on a pair of boots, but really want to work out what sort will work for my wardrobe. Am thinking a mild chisel-toe - round toe is too workmanlike, pointy toe too rakish, square toe doesn't bear mentioning. I'd prefer either straps with buckles or lacing to elasticised sides - again, they're a little too workmanlike, as well as a little plain!

I'm keen to know how you'll wear yours.
