Carey succeeds as Creative Director Roubi l’ Roubi, who retires from Huntsman to focus on womenswear, “My focus on menswear at Huntsman made me realise how much I missed creating for women, and I am glad to have the opportunity to fully devote myself to ladieswear again” says L’Roubi.

So, now it is official: L'Roubi failed miserably. Hopefully the new team will re-build the great house. (And hopefully, Carey won't inject a lot of Kilgour DNA, that he did with Hayward...)

I finally had the opportunity of dropping by Huntsman´s store after their most recent change of the guard. The environment was certainly hectic. Much busier than anything I´ve seen it ever before and certainly busier than any other house on Savile Row on an early Thursday afternoon. There seemed to be lots of things going on inside the shop, at the basement and even at the front stairs. Not with clients, but amongst their staff, tailors, purveyors, sales and delivery people. I want to believe that´s a good sign for their new business, maybe not so much for those who long for the “old” Huntsman.
I had the chance to briefly meet Mr. Carey, and another two young gentlemen from (I guess) the front office. I got the –by now- usual rap of “Huntsman´s DNA” and “heritage”, and a new rational based on “adaptation to the stylistic demands brought by the RTW costumers”. Mr. Carey and the staffers all looked very sharp but unfortunately not very different from the guys at The Suit Supply on Vigo St. around the corner. They all wore, as in Concordia´s prophecy, suits that were slim and extremely fitted, thin lapels, flat front lower rise trousers, with a significant gap between the jacket´s button and the waistband that allowed a peek of the shirts.
Let´s see what the future brings.

Huntsman is advertising that -since January 2016- they are the first SR house to take permanent residence in New York. More than a branch, it looks to me as they just rented an apartment in Manhattan instead of continue conducting their traveling tailors business from a hotel room.

I do believe I beat them by about 24 years!!!
