I'm currently working for a Bank in Abu Dhabi – this week I have two suits with me one wool the other Mohair/wool. Although both about the same weight and made by the same Tailor –the Mohair/wool mix suit out performs the wool suit in every area.

In particular the Mohair wool blend is superb at keeping its shape and resisting creasing. Its currently 47c here with very high humidity – at the end of the working day the mohair suit looks as good as the moment I first put it on. You can see now why im such a big fan

As to the cloth being scratchy - well im a bit like that too, so we rub along just fine

I would want a Navy Blue for an ultimate blazer.I hope Alden would be looking at that color after the suggested Gray.

All the talk of Mohair has made me bring forward my next project - off to Welsh and Jefferies next Tuesday to get measured up for a black Mohair/ Wool suit. :D

Tomorrow, 12th January I'm in for my final fitting - this will be the first black suit I've ever had made.

Just defected to a new all wool suit - very impressed so far, the wool has a twist in it which makes it very crease resistant :D

Am very happy with my Bateman Ogden, which I think is 80/20 wool mohair, and now have a Fisher Cape Breeze in the works, which is 70/30.

Can't wait.

I have a Fisher Cape Breeze in 1933 that is an amazing color and is constantly complimented. Big fan.

I made the mistake of defecting back to all wool. Its hard work, constantly steaming and pressing, going back to my favorite Wool and Mohair, it always looks sharp and crease free.

Gents,

I am a mohair aficionado, and looking to migrate my entire warm weather suiting wardrobe to mohair blends.

I am also contemplating a mohair/wool blend for a dinner suit commission. I don't believe that it's verboten and I think it will look and perform well.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Bird

Actually, that would be one of the logical places for a mohair blend. Whatever might rule that option out for a daytime (business) suit becomes something close to a virtue after dark when dressed up.

Warm weather shouldn't be the main criteria for moving towards mohair blends. In my experience, and agreeing with Concordia here, the advantages of adding mohair have more to do with the time of the day (and also with cloth color) than with the seasons.
Light grays, blues and olives in mohair (if the mohair is really noticeable), look IMO particularly hideous during the day. On the other hand, charcoal and dark blue mohairs look good at night for the fancier events even if it´s winter outside.
