I have a problem with my waistband folding/curling onto itself. Now one will suspect that I have a big belly, but I don't really. I find this happening on one of my trousers, but most of my other trousers don't do this.
My question is whether this is caused by the weight of the fabric, or is it due to the material used between the fabric? I find my other trousers' waistband having more 'strength' and do not fold/curl. Another suspicion is that it might be caused by the rise height of the trouser?
Any insight shed will be much appreciated. I will like to communicate this to my cutter to fix this problem, as it annoys the living daylights out of me. (Yes, I am OCD)

I have two pairs of oldish MTM cord trousers on which the waistband tends to curl slighty over the closure. The reason is that closure, a sliding hook system, is a bit too tight, so when I close the hook it pulls a bit in the closing strap, straining the cloth.
Thanks JS Groot, but I am talking about it curling horizontally, like curling towards my toes if that makes sense.
Naturally, you will think it's a big belly, but I just think the fabric is too soft or something. I am very curious as to whether this is common, or whether there is a simple solution.

I had this on a pair of rtw trousers from Hackett. I had my copy tailor take them apart and she told me it was a lack of interlining in the waist band. She's made me several pairs based on the cut and none of these have had the same problem.
And these days I have a huge belly

Mine is a horizontal curl as well, due to the horizontal pull from the closure that is slightly too tight. It has nothing to do with stoutness as my rampant metabolism ensures that my only relationship with weight involves losing it.
Thanks guys. It probably is an interlining problem. Now I just have to try to communicate this to my Italian tailor on email.
The article most commonly used to provide shape for the waistband is called 'Ban-Rol' and you can get it here by the metre http://www.kentontrimmings.co.uk/shop/i ... Path=82_84 I get my tailor to double it as I hate it when the waistband buckles like that. You will most likely need extra cloth for the waistband to be remade as its often quicker and easier [and cheaper] for the tailor to pull it off and sew on a new one they have made.pur_sang wrote:Thanks JS Groot, but I am talking about it curling horizontally, like curling towards my toes if that makes sense.

Thank you cathach. I love this forum!
I love the suit they have made for me, but strange ol' me have not worn it much, because this waistband bothers me so much. Actually, it has refrain me from ordering from them over the phone because I don't want this to reoccur on a new commission.

No bother pal. If you can't visit them but have a camera with a macro setting take a few photos showing the issue with a few arrows. Perhaps post them a few metres of the trimming so they can have a look at what you mean? The major problem I'd foresee is getting hold of the cloth to remake the waistband, although it should also be possible to undo and remake from the current one.
thanks cathach.
to be safe, probably go over and sort this out the next time I'm in milan. to my knowledge, they keep some spare cloth for every suit of every customer (sounds crazy), but that's what they told me.
