Gentlemen,
I'm searching for a large scale houndstooth jacketing material for a sportcoat. So far, I have not been able to find it in any of the books of the major mills. Does anyone know of a book that has something close to the scale shown in this old Esky illustration? Any help is much appreciated.

Too elegant.
A similar cloth, albeit at a slightly smaller scale, can be found in one of the Marling & Evans books.

I think that the illustrations of patterned cloths by Fellows have their scales way off most of the time and this is done on purpose. That way, the fabrics show more detail, texture and character than the original inspirations (if there were any real ones). This is a continued source of frustration for many searching for the perfect cloth after browsing Esquire old issues (although I recognize that the LL Cloth Club has filled many of the most obvious gaps)
By the way, Magee of Donegal also has a houndstooth tweed that might interest you. Black and grey though.
