I know Tumi brand, heard lots of bad about them on the Internets as well, esp. they do not offer a lifetime warranty on their products in 2013, they don't publish their weights on their site - as if they were not living on this planet or something.

But I like these two of their designs:

So which other alternative brand should I go which offers lightweight, stylish products preferably with a lifetime warranty policy? I'm looking fir non-leather bags; nylon, canvas and such.

I use one of their spinner carry-ons, but it appears that there are a few softer duffles down at the bottom. Their reputation for honoring warranties is very good AFAIK.

If you want a leather bag - possibly to your own design, in leather - you cannot do better IMHO than talk to Henry Tomkins of Exeter http://www.htleather.co.uk

Not only is he a very engaging chap, his designs and workmanship really hit the spot : you could pay far, far more for an item of luggage than he charges for his pieces - but then see your work of art driven over by a ham-fisted baggage handler. His work does the job and does it at a very sensible price.

I sometimes use heavy textbooks in my work, that need to be carted around. I designed a special sling / caddy to carry them, showed the sketch to Henry and he made it up beautifully.

Thanks for your info. It's nice - but it's leather. ;)

How about Filson? So far that's what I like.
