Hi, Can anyone help me source a small scale worsted tattersall suiting for a country suit?
I have been looking for one for ages. The actor Gerald Harper played the part of James Hadleigh in a t.v series.... He had one which looked as much at home in Mayfair as it did in his country estate. The pattern would need to be small enough to merge into a plain golden beige from a distance ( and not be too loud). Recently, I noticed this pic. in a magazine relating to a new theatre production. It is exactly what I'm looking for, or certainly close.
Can such a cloth ( say a clear cut worsted upwards of 13oz.) still be obtained?
thanks......

This is the production, by the way.....

Hardy has some in the Worsted Alsport bunch. There are also a few new Dugdale bunches you may want to look at.

I know you know your stuff better than most, so if you haven´t found anything, well......
The closest thing I've seen is the Johnstons of Elgin Houndstooth Check (tan, small tattersall pattern with a brick overcheck, and gorgeous up close). Although I believe it might be way too heavy for what you’re looking for.
On the lighter side, Rogiercreemers is on the right track but not with the Alsports. What about pattern #7706 in the 13oz John G. Hardy lambswool? Or the tan #7701?
Thanks Gentlemen, and sorry for the delayed response. I am still investigating and will keep you informed if I find something suitable. I'm not looking for a tweed, but a refined worsted in a country pattern. I'm sure if it's out there I will find it. Patience is one of the key elements of Bespoke Tailoring as a hobby!

Please, Mr. Rowly, keep us informed. The examples you gave truly inspired me.
