While browsing another forum I came across a thread on a documentary the BBC was showing recently on Harris Tweed. There were some screen captures of a stunning large-scale black/white glen check. I would very much like to procure some for myself in tweed.
A call to Breanish has not proved fruitful, as they only have overchecks and herringbones in stock right now. To commission a new run from them appears to be a time consuming and uneconomical proposition. A search through bunches by Porter and Harding, Harrisons, and John P Hardy has proved fruitless as well.
So, to conclude, does anyone know a source for the following design?
Does anyone know a source for a BOLD black/white glen check?
That coat looks like the LL club tweed aka the Cooper's tweed made in the Cloth Club a few years ago.
I believe there is a very incandescent black and arctic white glen in a Dugsdale book or is it HE Box.

Hello Rowly,
the closest I have gotten myself to the black and white PoW in tweed was the Dumbarton pattern of the Porter & Harding Glenroyal tweed book that we discussed a while ago. After seeing it made in a jacket (thanks to you) I changed my mind. It looked too bold and busy for my taste, but it could be what Zeitgeist is looking for.
