A quick update... I have now received the trousers made with John G Hardy 'burnt orange' 9oz cloth, from the Sandringham bunch. It is a nice-looking cloth.

Forward-facing pleats, lapped seams, and fishtail back are absent. Reverse pleats are present.

Perhaps I asked for too much.

I am likely to wear them this weekend, and may post a photograph. I hope at least to report how well they recover from a few hours in a suitcase...

May I ask who made the trousers?

One can hardly refuse a question from an owner of multiple shades of burnt orange trousers. Paul Kitsaros was the tailor.

I just returned from two weeks in Switzerland and Italy: wore one of my 9 ounce gabardine in burnt orange (milled in Scotland). It wore particularly well in the Umbrian heat.

For fall/winter odd trousers, the entire Dakota book from Holland & Sherry is interesting, classic and excellent. There are a mix of calvary twills and whipcords. I got a mottled tan calvary twill that I enjoy.

I have had to have my trousers mentioned earlier in this thread altered, and the alterations tailor left the cloth removed in the back pocket... can any of the more technically minded forum members say why the central line of the stitching in this picture is wavy?
