Last year I was asked to do a video showing how steel toe guards are installed on a pair of shoes.

Well, here it is.

Thanks for that! I have had steel guards placed on all my RTW shoes as I go through the toes very quickly so very interesting to see the process first hand. I like how the dog is relaxing the whole time without a care in the world.

Anyone knows a shop (web-based or not) that sells these metal toe guards?

Götz (or Götz-Service) in Göppingen/Swabia is probably the largest ’grindery’ (shoe components supplier) in the world.

Load down their catalogue and go to page 200, there you’ll find toe and heel irons. The ’Triumph’ plates are the ones G&G uses on their bespoke shoes. Watch out, those that look like the ones Alden video featured (they are called 'Lulu') are for the heel: they are 4 mm tick and will be too thick for soles.

Götz has international agents, they might well have an agent in Russia (I got my Triumph toe plates from their UK agent in South London).

Alternatively there is a (retail) firm in Vienna that supplies various metal plates:

Hope that helps - Rolf

Rolf, thank you! -- this is so much better than nothing. :-)

Though I secretly hoped for something more single-customers oriented... I doubt Götz-Service deals with small orders. Also, no luck in finding their Russian distributors. :(

Second shop is more promising, though. :)
