The pictures in that thread were a welcome sight.
I've always loved the way Sean Connery was dressed in the early movies and had a bit of a fascination with it as a kid. That great '60s G-man look: Dressed well, but not to stand out. Something the later Bond movies completely missed the mark on with their costume design. I noticed you only listed one item of Roger Moore's.
The sport coat and flat front trousers (with frog top pockets!) worn with a light coloured knit tie in Goldfinger disprove the silly notion that he only ever wore blue or grey suits with pleated trousers, to say nothing of that great glen check number in From Russia with Love. I believe the tropical weight suit he wore in his first meeting with Leiter also had frog pockets as well as being a taupe colour. Great warm weather suit. I'll take one for Florida, please!
Didn't the Goldfinger suit have a subtle glen check to it? I've seen it discussed in some places that it doesn't show up very well on screen, even in theatres or HDTV. While I mostly like it, I think the waistcoat lapels lie just a little too flat. Yes, I know he had it packed in a suitcase, but if movie magic allows for it to look completely unwrinkled right as he gets out of an airplane lavatory...

I could never take Roger Moore seriously as Bond. Pierce Brosnan, dressed IIRC by Brioni, was always too flash. The BMW was the last straw for me. Timothy Dalton was wooden and dressed poorly.

The aggressive cut of a Brioni suit was never quite right for 007. The ties and cufflinks were also rather tacky in Brosnan's case. All this made him look like he sold BMWs rather than drove them around fighting bad guys.

I can't agree that Dalton could ever be seen as wooden, particularly sandwiched between Moore and Brosnan.Bishop of Briggs wrote:I could never take Roger Moore seriously as Bond. I am also rather fond of Dalton's suit in Licence To Kill and his casual clothing from the previous film.
The old movies had a whole lot less action in them, so they didn't need to buy so many.
You would think they would employee a small time tailor who knows some quick ways to make what they need. For throw away action movie garments they don't need elaborate garments with lots of hand sewing, but something made simplier. This way they can keep the British look.
It also seems like these companies that have made these movie garments would at least know how to make garments fit the charactor, so British looking garments for British movies, even if it is made in another country.
Although in real life if you were a spy would you be wearing clothes from your home country, or the clothes of the natives?
