Request for pattern: formal waistcoats

Dear all,

I am about to commission a new dinner suit (see DJ with Brisa thread elsewhere), and I was discussing with my cutter the open back waistcoat with built in braces, like in this illustration:

I am interested in Model 682 and Model 660, one in same material as suit, and the other in white pique. Would like to solicit member's thoughts on which to be black and which to be white.

And if any member can share the pattern of either the braces built in type or just plain open back style. Sator, perhaps?

Ha! What an interesting idea! Using one's waistcoat instead of braces to hold the trousers up! I wouldn't have thought about it...
I would do the 660 white and a black waistcoat without lapels.

The patterns I found do not show all the details like the braces/ suspenders in the back or the buttoning straps on the inside.
I would think that your tailor already has a well fitting waistcoat pattern, so all he has to do is changing the front and back.
All the patterns I found look very similar although ranging from 1900 to 1960.
These ones are from mid 50's and show more or less model 682:

It certainly is ingenious - but possibly not an outfit for any occasion with seduction in mind and certainly not one to get out of, in the wee small hours, after a few drinks...

Why not? If you unbutton your waistcoat it works just like a pair of normal braces, you just slide it off your shoulders, no need to separate it from the trousers. If the victim is not already seduced by the time braces (waistcoats) come off, perhaps either the timing or the subject is wrong
