Gentlemen

Three nights in Paris, three nights in Florence and a week in Amalfi. Usual tourist activities in the day and smart restaurants in the evening. What essentials should I take? How many pairs of shoes? A suit, or just a jacket or two?

Regards

Elton.

Essentials? For the latter part of the trip I would not leave without good sunglasses, straw hat, blazer, linen trousers / jackets / suits / shirts. Comfortable shoes (slipons are good but I prefer the secure grip of a laced shoe). You could eventually carry a blue suit if it is breezy enough (fresco, mohair) and if the jacket could work well as a blazer, too.
If you'll only spend three days in Florence, you may wish to read in advance so you understand what you see, given the high density of points of interest.
Enjoy the trip, it sounds like a wonderful holiday, particularly if the company is right!
