Some may recall my posting following my June, 2007, London visit. I met then with Stephen Lachter, who has a particular interest in, and willingness to make, shirt jackets. He is in NYC several times per year, and will be there next week. I plan to see him. If anyone wants the particulars, please send me a PM.
Mr. Lachter had several keen observations when he showed me his work in London. I found his comment: "Square tails are tricky" to be intriguing. You would only hear something like this from someone who knows what he is doing.
Mr. Lachter has done a lot of work for film industry people, and the off screen types need a lot of pockets,so he has experience with different designs.. He also has definite ideas about cloth for shirt jackets like Ventile (there are advantages and dsadvantages). My favorite comment from him, was in response to the more than 2 yards of shirting cloth demanded by my NY maker. I told him they "required" it and he replied: "They would, wouldn't they?"
I liked this guy very much.
