You are right, it is the unlined Wetherby by Lock. Probably the nicest hat they make. Unfortunately it only comes in two colors: dark Brown and Green.

Green is OK if you are Robin Hood or Peter Pan or playing either in a local community play.

They used to make a nice light brown but they discontinued a few decades ago.

I agree with your assessment of green - it is only marginally better than dark blue which they have in some styles!

I'll have a word with Janet Taylor and see what they can do to get reinstatement of light brown Wetherbies!!

Lock & Co.’s Wetherby is one of our most popular felt trilbys. The brown hat is traditionally worn by English gentlemen, especially at race meetings such as The Cheltenham Festival. As Janet points out, the Weatherby is a very versatile hat. It is a Trilby that doubles as a Fedora in the sense that it is just as well at home in a country setting with tweeds as in a town setting in worsteds and topcoats.

The fact that the Weatherby is made in a heavy felt unlined pleases us for its ability to show character with out losing shape. That's a quality many of us like in heavy weight fabrics tailored in a very soft and natural way. It confers a lot of easy elegance right out of the gate.

The Voyager is a bit more difficult in this regards given its more supple felt. But for the traveling application it was designed for it does quite well.

My own Weatherby population has three sables for one cork, a situation I may have to rectify soon. As regards the "gun metal green" color Janet's comment has reminded me that it is a greyish, bronze green that is quite handsome for a green hat. I have seen some very green hats that look awful but the Weatherby green has a certain charm.

Ah, ths is just wonderful. I'll be ordering a cork Weatherby, I have a sable and my evolving wardrobe would favor the lighter color.
