Lap seam
What is your view on lap seams on a travel suit, specifically on fresco?
I don't like it, but I don't see its use as a sartorial faux pas.
A very Brooks Brothers thing to do. You used to see that on tan twill suits that were, indeed, marketed as travel suits. Back when one felt obliged to wear good clothing on airplanes.

I can think of few suits on which I wouldn't want lapped seams whether I'm travelling or staying put.
On something like a fresco, I think they won't be too noticeable at all.

Concordia has it right.
They would look great on a casual summer suit. Which is not to say not for business. A solid fresco or hopsack in a tan or olive would be perfect (and both are fine business suits for Summer in NY). Gray or navy maybe less perfect. Awful on a pinstripe worsted.

Could not agree more about them on pinstripe, but I am thinking about a dark grey and dark blue from Minnis fresco 14/15oz.dopey wrote:Concordia has it right.

Interesting note about BB. The Italians are fond of lap seams also. Perhaps they took cue from early BB.Concordia wrote:A very Brooks Brothers thing to do. All of my pants have lap seams. Period.
i like hand top stitched lap seams, on softer wool and cashmere sport coats.
