leather snow boots
I ahd my local cobler change a "balmoral" boot. Instaead of a toppy we went for the full on Vibram comando sole. They have laste me 10+ years now.
Warm griippy, and slick enough to wear under pants. And iff needed one can afix a nordic skiing waxed cloth leggings. If ith realy bad you can even get mountaneering pants that wil afix them selves to the boots. Its almost like a classic Wader, used for fishing. Just for SNOW

They do look pretty much indestructible!speedster wrote:They have laste me 10+ years now.
Here is the final result of my bootmaker's efforts:
They are sturdy yet soft, made on a last about one size larger so they may be worn with thick knitted woolen socks (they show a little above the boot). Double leather sole construction plus 2 mm thick anti-slip profile rubber topies glued on. I was afraid they'd be cold, but they were perfectly warm even in -27 C !
I alternated them with a modern pair of Salomon boots (rubber shells + leather uppers). I actually felt more comfortable and walked better in my bespoke leather boots.
The upper leather is turned outwards and the soles are both handstitched on a welt. With the bellow tongue and the grease I applied to the leather, not a drop of moisture could get inside.

Costi, a wonderful monkstrap boot with interiorfur lining and a flattering pair of pants to boot, Sir.
Just had an idea of having boots without laces, buttonholes, metal clips/clasps, monkstraps or zippers - Velcro fasteners!

Absolutely! And just as comfortable.yachtie wrote: Much better than "moon boots".
HS, no fur lining there, just my thick handknitted woolen oversocks showing from inside the boot.

Thank you, Sir, for pointing that out.
Thanks also for the tip about having the boot one size larger to accommodate the thicker socks (and for the cuffs to stay inside the boot).
