I have what's been referred to as a "prominent seat" and slightly wider hips...would outward or inward facing pleats flatter my body better?

Whichever one your tailor is more comfortable making.

General advice, though: go with braces and inward pleats when you can.

My only advice with a prominent seat is to make sure that you have a pant full enough in from to give you some balance between your front and rear.

Make sure you trousers are cut full and worn at the proper height.

Thanks Alden. My new Mahon trousers fit like this. Very comfortable and elegant.

(I'll post pics of my new Mahon as well as my new Merrion once each tailor has had a chance to see the finished garment after it has settled in)
