Hello gentlemen,

I'm traveling to Italy in mid-August and am hoping to drop in on a few tailors in Milan and Florence. Even though I won't be in-country long enough to begin fittings on a three-piece, I'd like to find a good cutter and possibly get some shirts made (time permitting). I'll be returning in the fall to commission a few suits. Who should I visit?

Does anyone have experience with Tindaro De Luca in Milan? If so, how would you describe his work and would you recommend him?

Also, any restaurant or shopping recommendations for either of these cities would be greatly appreciated.

I use a shirtmaker in Florence called Simone Abbarchi, who probably does MTM rather than bespoke, but is very reasonable and makes great shirts - although they're cut quite short so be very specific about the length of the body. Google turns up lots of articles about him.

Cibreo is a Florentine restaurant with a great reputation, but it's been years since I went there.

The usual suspects in Florence include:

Leonardo Bugelli on via Fra Bartolommeo (nr. 21, I think).

Stefano Bemer at 143 Borgo San Frediano (he should still be there).

Never been to Milan, but there's no shortage of choices there.

Try the gelato, avoid the crowds, and have fun!
