Dear all,
I'm going to Washington D.C. for work for a month, and I was wondering about shopping opportunities there? I'm planning to visit Filene's Basement, Brooks Brothers, J. Press, Everard's, Sky Valet and Alden Shoes, but does anyone else have any suggestions on where to shop?
Many thanks!
P.J.

Thank you very much, Cufflink79! I'm especially excited to see a hat shop.

Also check out Sherman Pickey- a nice little haberdasher in Georgetown near Sky Valet.

I second Sherman Pickey--a great resource for preppy sportswear (Lacoste, Villebrequin, Barbour, Lilly Pulitzer, CJ Laing). They also stock several regional purveyors of accessories (S. Matheson pocket squares, Peter Blair neckties, Smathers and Branson needlepoint belts). The co-owners, Ethan and Lele, are terrific.
Everhards, right next to Sky Valet, has a nicely edited selection of suits, shirts and ties--a bit more Euro-sophisticated than you usually find in DC. Reminds me a bit of the first Jay Kos store, and they will often pour you a hearty glass of wine while you shop.
The Saks mens store and Neiman Marcus in Chevy Chase often carry a suitable selection of shoes--Gucci/Ferragamo/Zegna, occasionally Sutors or Kitons, if you go for the Italians, and sometimes JL, or Barker Black. Plus the requisite neckwear from Charvet/Hermes/et al, though nothing you won't find elsewhere.
