Hilary at Edward Green Contact info request
Can anyone PM me Hilary Freeman's email and/or phone number over at Edward Green? Thank you.
Good luck,
I am about to boycott EG for their lack of ability to actually answer an e mail in any resemblance of a decent amount of time.
They are beginning to make the Italians look punctual!

I hear you. Ordering through RL does not make the process any better.
If anyone does have Hilary's contact information, I would appreciate receiving it.
Thanks again.

If Gaziano & Girling deliver the goods on their MTO side of the business EG is going to have some stiff competition. I keep hearing stories like this about EG. Maybe they're too big for their britches?

I have not met Hillary, but have bought and had shoes repaired through Robert Willis in the Jermyn Street shop for more than 10 years. They always respond to e-mail in a day or two.

Thank you Bengal-Sttripe,
I will give Mz Bateman a ring,
This has been on going since just after New years and has nothing to do with this holiday weekend. I wanted to order another MTO and pick them up when in London in June. They have answered one e mail, then not the next two. I think it may be pushing it for June pick up??

Just for the record, I have always had a prompt reply to any email sent to Edward Green at Jermyn St store, and my emails can be quite frequent during their twice yearly sale. I am a little surprised at the negative experience being reported by others

I spent months trying to get the courtesy of a response from Hilary et al. Often the emails bounce back, and when they are received they don't reply. Similarly, no response from fax letters. Finally, the dog ate my homework excuses: travelling, out of the office, etc.
Business should be conducted in a business like manner, especially at the luxe end (one of Teplitz's rules). This business fails. There is a subtle sleight of hand with this company: ambiguity about the disposition of returned goods, surcharges for "fitting" which is an oxymoron with ready to wear (which is what it is), using the Retailer as a linebacker, to obfuscate resolution of problems, slow or non existant response time, etc.
They have a nice product line, but clearly are pushing the limits with their pricing and customer service (I think they don't feel a need to provide it since they're not really "retailers" at least in the States).
My interaction with Ms. Freeman and her charges has been uniformly unpleasant, actually bizarre in some ways. In Washington, they have a guy tag along to make conversation with new prospects, and they have the traditional shoe shine guy in an apron, whose function has never been clear to me. This combined with furtive whisperings about pricing (they don't quite reveal it and glance at the hapless retailer).
It is my hope that Capitalism while triumph, and we live to see the day when G&G crushes this moribund Compnay.

We need an LL limited edition!luk-cha wrote:perhaps a LL G&G MTO is the order of the day for 2008 then??
Hi Guys
Just for the record, if you want an almost instant responce from EG always contact Robert Willis at the JS shop, he is very professional and organised. Hilary tends to have her finger in many pies and does not get much time to anwser many e-mails, especially as she gets about 200 a day.
It's nice to see the interest in our shoes, and if you guys want a LL limited editon it would be our pleasure to make it for you, i suggest that maybe a topic be opened up on the matter and rather than us decide what to do, maybe you guys could group togeather and discuss want you want, materials designs and last. we would number them as 1 of 20 etc ..
I will need to talk to Michael to make sure this will be ok, with that pending i look forward to reading your ideas.
Kind regards
Tony Gaziano
