Gentlemen. I just received a shipment in the mail of a length of overcoating from this eBay seller:
http://stores.ebay.com/NIKKI-DESIGNER-FABRIC
She has a bolt of a beautiful cashmere and mink blend. It is a lovely and regal looking shade of midnight blue with a moderately pronounced nap.
The seller estimates the weight as around 19 Oz and I would also guestimate it as being around 18/19 Oz. It has plenty of body with a heft akin to a good worsted or flannel. I tried to pull strands of cashmere out of the edge to see what length they were but the tightness of the weave (reassuringly) made it quite difficult to do, leading the fibres to be cut short before I could unravel their whole length. It is not the loose and spongy weaves you sometimes find with lesser overcoatings.
The fabric is said to be Italian. My guess would be that it is a Loro Piana and will take a look at the LP coating book to see if they have it. That said, if this is old stock from seasons past, they may no longer feature it in their current books.
Excellent source of inexpensive cashmere/mink coating
What length do you recommend for a full length overcoat?
I got 4.5 yards. The best thing is to ask your tailor.zjpj wrote:What length do you recommend for a full length overcoat?
Here was what Chris Despos had to say:

she does seem to have some wonderful things. A trust wool twill perhaps for pants, the overcoat fabric, some silk fabrics that might make a good lining.
