On a different subject what's the feeling on here about Crockett and Jones shoes? I bought a couple of pairs to try, they seem reasonable value - what's the quality like long term?
I have a pair of hand grade brogues-- the Downing, in antique tan. It's one of a handful of models available in a wide fitting.

As far as I can tell, construction and materials are very good. Same general bracket as Edward Green, although if a knowledgeable person said they were a hair less good I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. After all, they do cost a noticeable amount less and one should expect a little less in exchange.

There are other grades below Hand Grade-- general impression on the discussion boards is that they represent fair value at retail, and very good value if at discount.

Any luck on the linen suit project?

to be honest I've done nothing about it so far, but I'm back in 2 weeks for a longer stay and hope to spend some time talking to tailors about colours, cloth and cut.

The handgrades are good value and wear very well over time. If you are in the Jermyn Street store, ask for Michael, who is an outstanding repository of information.

I've just collected a linen suit from Hitchcock, which I am very pleased with. Its in natural linen from the Harrisons Mersolair bunch. He's made a very unstructured, soft suit.

Pretty much like all of his suits, I think. HIs pricelist is online. Ex-VAT, something around $3,100.

Yes. I sent you a pm. It is no different than his prices for other suits.
