I won't have a ton of free time, but will be there a bunch of days in January. Anything especially worth seeking out on the clothing front? Or anything else, for that matter?

Hotel Sacher and the restaurants associated with the hotel are highly recommended.

Both loden coat makers Salko and Schneiders are located in Salzburg. There are some fine men's shops that carry them.

The visit of the Mozart House is a must.

Well, we've been doing the usual Mozart sites, as well as getting to know K 546 and 575 a lot better. I also found Hederer's shop (open only on Wednesdays, and closed last week-- so we're lucky there). VERY nice Austrian-styled shoes, rather like Balint or Materna.

If I've run across Salko I haven't recognized it as such. Schneider's does indeed have some beautiful raglan coats, as well as most tasteful silk and wool or cashmere scarves for less than $100. The main question now is whether to get the loden Raglan coat with the zip-out lining (not too heavy), or the cashmere satin-lined raglan, which can fit well one size smaller and is quite elegant.

Edit: Problem solved for the moment. I am between sizes of the loden version, but feel quite good in the smaller of the two cashmere sizes. So dark Anthracite cashmere it is.

If you're still in Salzburg, don't miss the bar at the Goldener Hirsch.
