Dukes Hotel

I am new to this list, but I have enjoyed many sojourns in London across the years. I have always enjoyed staying at Dukes Hotel, St. James's when in town. I was wondering if any list members are able to comment on how Dukes has survived its recent renovation. Frankly, I have difficulty imagining Dukes in the latter half of the Twentieth Century, let alone the Twenty-first.

The general manager was just in our office this year and said, the just upgraded their room to a more comtempory feel ( every hotel in London, seems to be doing that) even my favorite the Conaught.

The pictures of the rooms look nice, but I prefer the old Dukes. Although he did say, they still make the besr martini in London.

I want traditional and 'stuffy" so save the Goring ( my favorite hotel), it is hard to find.
