Greetings all:
I was wondering what advice all of you have for shaving while on the road. Unless you have a servant with you, taking your bowl and cream can be hard to pack in the dopp kit. I have used the Gillette gel in a can but don't like it that much. Any suggestions?

I use DR Harris' Arlington cream in a tube and a small badger brush with its own travel case.

I will look into that. Does DR Harris have a web site? Thanks for the tip.

You are most welcome - click on the "order here" link to get the best idea of their range. If you are in North America, online vendors such as enchante http://www.enchanteonline.com/ or trafalgar http://www.trafalgarshop.com/ offer quicker shipping at comparable prices.

I travel with a small tube of Taylors shaving cream and a badger travel shaving brush that unscrews and collapses into itself. It's pretty compact and avoids having to make unpleasant compromises with my shaving routine when I am away from home.

In my store I carry Trufitt and Hill, John Allan, and a great Italian shave cream called Proraso. All of these are available in a travel tube. Pack your Mach 4 and away you go...

Dear Romualdo:
Do you have a web site or address for your shop? It sounds neat. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Trevor:
Thank you for the web site link. The place looks like a fine old time haberdashery which I really enjoy. I'll have to come out to Ohio and visit some time to see you and the shop in person. I have only been to Ohio by way of transfer flights in Cleveland and Cincinnati from what I have seen in the air and at the airport Ohio seems really nice.

I use soap that comes in a metal tin, and use either the tin's lid, or a mug from my hotel room as a bowl. My shaving brush comes with me...my only concern is that something will leak and get in the bristles, which even then can be happily removed. Unlike my toothbrushes, which tend to suffer rather worse!
Best,
Eden

Rather than soap in a bowl, I also bring cream in a tube. I've been using the Taylors Lemon & Lime in a tube but have been unimpressed with the fragrance. I just bring my regular brush as well. Having a large shaving bag helps avoid unpleasant compromises.
