A young colleague complemented me on my "new shoes" this afternoon.
"These old things? Why, they're at least six years old!"
...
So, how often do you shine yours?

Nowhere near often enough.
I do keep them on wooden shoe trees, which helps hugely in keeping them in good condition.
I always admire the professional approach to shoe shining :

A great compliment - I have shoes 15 plus years old and they are superb. A good friend of mine has shoes that are 20 plus and are immaculate . I cream all new shoes before wearing them, then polish on a very regular basis. Depending on the wear, also cream every month or so. For brown shoes or special colour shoes a great cream to use is Saphir mink oil renovateur.
