brahms - 4th symphony, toscanini / philharmonia orchestra
brahms - german requim, shaw / atlanta symphony orchestra & chorus
love - forever changes
antonio carlos jobim - wave
daft punk's electrorama (it's a soundtrack, very eclectic with artist from all over the place, but it works alright)

the first four i'm very fond of. forever changes and the german requim both give me the goosebumps.

As for me , this morning I went to see a friend in the centre of Athens , our city feels and looks once again like the battlefield on the day after .As I was walking in Kypseli the neighborhood I grew up 40 years ago and now mostly a refuge hideout I heard this coming loudly out from an open window ..and moved my feet to it's rhythm

Vassilis, be warned! - a friend of mine got in the loop for a week with this tune (the interpretation is sensational, not even Piazzola was so good at it). The good news is - it cured him of his sadness

Now this is literally my music of the day - I just came back from a live concert with this chamber opera (the same musicians as recorded): Chante d'amour de la dame a la licorne, composed by Liana Alexandra on a text by Belgian poet Etienne de Sadeleer. The part I like most starts at 8:00 (poor video, but decent audio).

It's been a long day.

Just came back from my French procurer...err.. purveyor of wines, not exactly fine wines, but nonetheless, good wines. These visits to Alain are always a drama...you've got to love the French.

So I need to relax this evening with something easy to listen to as well as an ice cold Ciroc straight from the freezer.

Yes, Greece is going through hell. It will come back. In the meanwhile, reggae sounds good, doesn't it, the music of yearning and justice.

don't you feel like Toscanini's rushing to catch the evening train back home by comparison?
The amplitude, the wide horizon, the deep breath... Celi gives meaning to the "non troppo" of Brahms's "allegro non troppo" designation. In a way, I feel like Toscanini's (technically very convincing!) rendering has at least an agenda (if not a proper "program"), somehow against Brahms's eminently anti-programatic (absolute) creed - while the other's interpretation just flows, progressing out of itself, rather than according to a superimposed programatic blueprint.
Beyond that, we do share this passion Dvorak, as a pupil, could never understand how Brahms was an atheist. I suspect he was not, deep inside... or he would never have produced this music, and Wagner would have dominated the scene unchallenged.

I hope you are right uppercase (the coming back part) ..not a lot of people beleive that right now , but I'm with you and yes reggae is where I mostly look for inspiration these days ..
