Arthur Quiller-Couch's writings are still within obvious copyright protection but, maybe because his eventual heirs have given them to the world (or, whatever, until some complaint is made), an anthology of his works is now available on the internet. I especially commend to all who have an interest in civilization his Three Open Letters To The Bishop of Exeter in that anthology. For anyone more interested in what this magnificent man left us, there is more to enjoy too:

He has magnificent memorials: the great granite monolith on Penleath Point, commanding Fowey Harbour ("the dearest of small cities"); a plaque in Truro Cathedral and his prolific works but, most of all, for me, his reminder to us of Coleridge's maxim:

"While Fate tramples on things of beauty, the indignant human heart shall utter [them]."
