60s folk music. With uncertainty and ambivalence and sense of life's illusions.
Judy Collins.

JUDY COLLINS
"Both Sides Now"
(Clannad & Paul Young)
Send "Both Sides Now" Ringtone to your Cell
Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun they rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done, but clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud's illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and ferris wheels the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real, I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show, you leave 'em laughin when you go
And if you care don't let them know, don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud, to say, "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I've looked at life that way
But now old friends are acting strange they shake their heads, they say
I've changed
But something's lost but something's gained in living every day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Uppercase, beautiful, thank you...

It's life's illusions I recall
It's love's illusions I recall
It's cloud's illusions I recall

It really is so, illusions (and not knowledge) are the gold that we extract from experience; those of us who don't prefer the heaps of dirt called "reality" that we need to move in order to get to those grains of gold.

I'm reposting it, but I wanted to make sure you didn't miss this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... rDR4JA91F4

UC, I don´t understand your mentioning Clannad & Paul Young between parenthesis. It looks by the way it´s placed like they were the authors of the song (music or lyrics) and I´m sure you know it´s a song by Joni Mitchell.

Alfie

Alfie
by Cilla Black

Send "Alfie" Ringtone to your Cell
What's it all about, Alfie?
Is it just for the moment we live?
What's it all about when you sort it out, Alfie?
Are we meant to take more than we give

Or are we meant to be kind?
And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
Then I guess it's wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie,

What will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Alfie,
I know there's something much more,
Something even non-believers can believe in.

I believe in love, Alfie.
Without true love we just exist, Alfie.
Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, Alfie.
When you walk let your heart lead the way
And you'll find love any day, Alfie, Alfie.

You Only Live Twice

You Only Live Twice [Single Version][*]
by Nancy Sinatra

Send "You Only Live Twice [Single Version][*]" Ringtone to your Cell
You only live twice, or so it seems
One life for yourself, and one for your dreams

You drift through the years and life seems tame
Till one dream appears and love is its name

And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on
Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone

This dream is for you, so pay the price
Make one dream come true, you only live twice

And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on
Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone

This dream is for you, so pay the price
Make one dream come true, you only live twice

Chavela Vargas has left this world today, aged 93. She published her last CD La Luna Grande in April this year.

David, what force of expression!...

Where do they all go, I wonder? Like Chavela Vargas said, perhaps they don't die, they transcend.

Here is another one, this time very young - and Chopin like you probably (and I certainly) never heard before: http://www.ursuleasa.com
Sadly we never will again, either. She was dying a little already two months ago... Especially in the bis
That night she taught me that Chopin is not (necessarily) "Chopin". It took me time to understand. The recording is not too good, but look how she creates magic out of... what? Talking about magnetism...
I can't bring myself to write "RIP". No, I am sure you keep making music wherever you are...

I've known Charlie since he was 13. Works tirelessly. Meyer & Mortimer actually add slits to the back of his Jackets so that he can wield his Bow properly.

(Now that's an unusual crowd to play)
