Going this June; base camp Honolulu. Any tips, recommendations?

You might try Newt; they have some very nice distinctive Aloha shirts and good Panama hats:

If you're musical you might try Kamaka, who makes the best Koa wood ukuleles:

The best dining in Honolulu is probably at the Halekulani Hotel, which is also probably the best hotel:

Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay:

And you might arrange for surfing lessons at Waikiki beach. The waves break there in such a way as to make it extremely easy to surf.
