Gentlemen
You wouldn't believe how difficult, even in the days of the internet, it is to locate a white cotton Greek fisherman's cap in the UK. Oh, if I lived in America I could but one on every street corner for $10 and get a free litre bottle of Gatorade, but in the UK, not possible. Any help in locating such an article would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Elton

For years there used to be a company that advertised with the headline "Greek Fisherman's Cap" and a photo in those little side-bar ads in The New Yorker magazine. I don't know if the ads are still placed, but if so that might be a source. The New Yorker is distributed in London--when attending a chamber concert at Wigmore Hall in November, I heard the two gents behind me commiserating about the decline in quality of Adam Gopnik's pieces of late--but I don't know whether the magazine localizes the advertisements in the edition distributed in the U.K.
On the other hand, a Google search for "Greek fisherman's cap" seems to turn up quite a number of online sources . . . .

Elton, I found one of the New Yorker ads and called to confirm that this source can provide the white cotton version. They are located in Oregon and can fill an order to the UK. Price is USD 32, and you can either order through their web site:

or by telephone at (503) 223-4976 or toll-free from the U.S. at (866) 855-4976
Remaining contact info is:

Oregon = Lloyd= "The best Goddam bartender from here to Portland Maine." Or lumberman, Mr Burns, catching thieves at Cannes...On balance, I'd still say that Athens is nice in April...

Indeed, the John Helmer caps are listed as "direct from Piraeus." One could cut out the middleman, though it might cost more than $32 for the pleasure . . . .
