Gloves

Gentlemen
As I dare to venture away from plain black and brown leathers I find myself bewildered by the range of options open to me when it comes to a choice of materials for gloves. Suede, buckskin, hogskin, calfskin, chamois...what is their relation to one another (i.e. I have read buckskin described as a soft sueded leather ), their qualities and furthermore, what is their appropriateness to occasion. I suppose I am really delving into formal dress here in which case I may as well ask if their are any rules in regard to morning dress, specifically, the matching of gloves to the waistcoat (i.e. lemon gloves with a dove-grey waistcoat or should they only really be worn with one that is buff)?
Thank you
