Having read through the most enlightening thread on neck wear in the "Best of Bespoke" section, I felt compelled to drop by Charvet at Place Vendôme. I knew exactly what I was after: A solid black, knitted tie. Further more I had decided, that should I bump into a particularly nice bow tie with diamond ends, I would also pick up one, since all my current bow ties are square ended.

Now, I know for sure that I saw Willem Dafoe last fall in some magazine wearing a black knitted tie by Charvet, but the, otherwise friendly, salesman insisted that Charvet made no such ties. Normally, I would of course trust a salesman over a magazine, but since he spoke only very little English, I fear that the language barrier may have obstructed my endeavours. Therefore, I turn to you gents. Can anyone of you inform me of whether Charvet does make knitted ties or if I should look elsewhere?

Cheers.

Ps. In case you were wondering, I did not find a bow tie that was to my liking. He showed my only squared ended ones and even informed me that I could only get black bow ties (here I was sure the language barrier was factoring, since the store is crammed with bow ties of patterns and colours, but unfortunately I was short on time and so couldn't attempt to express myself in French).

You may try to post the same question here: http://www.thelondonlounge.net/forum/vi ... t&start=60
where Mr. Jean-Claude Colban, the owner of Charvet, might easily spot it and answer it as graciously as all other LL members' questions.

They have beautiful ones, including black. When you enter the shop, turn right, go back half way and look on your right.

And the shop is also full of great bow ties.

Thanks a lot both of you; that solves my problems. Back to Vendôme it is then.

To Costi: I did consider posting there, but I thought the thread was, how do you put it, inactive, since the last post was made in the fall. Thank you for informing me that this is not the case.

Cheers.
