Jacket w/ Neapolitan shoulder & trousers w/"British" pleats?

Dear LL members,

I'd like to ask your advice on this: I am in the process of having my first bespoke suit, and fell in love with my tailor's rendition of the Neapolitan shoulder. However, I think I'd strongly appreciate if the trousers were made with "British" pleats (i.e., non-reverse pleats). Would this collision of the Italian and English traditions be considered 'bad form'?

The brief answer is "no", but if the coat is tight it WILL clash with the fullness of the trousers.

You will surely enjoy the excellent discussion you can find here: http://www.thelondonlounge.net/forum/vi ... f=4&t=9188

Thank you very much for your kind reply, Costi, and for the very informative links as well. I will make sure to ask that both jacket and trousers have a matching volume, then.

My concern was that it ended up being a contrived compromise of two different traditions, which doesn't seem to be the case.

By the way, my compliments to all involved with the re-design of the forum. It looks superb. I have spent many agreeable hours gathering knowledge from the experienced members here, which now I am eager to put to good use.
