Would anyone be able to indicate, please, which of the LL UK based artisans are able to produce a more structured coat or all they all devotees of soft tailoring? My tailor retired some years ago and I now need to start replace fading items. I feel that the the more structured or "military" look may suit me better (or so my wife suggests) but I would welcome suggestions based on members' experience.

I don't know about the LL UK based artisans, I suspect they are all softies. However, if you want structure you will not go far wrong with Welsh & Jefferies, 20 Savile Row. A classic military cut with flexibility to modify in accordance with the customers wishes. Very good experienced cutters - Malcolm Plews is also a delightful chap - and good coat and trouser makers. All at a very reasonable price by SR standards.

I would recommend Meyer & Mortimer (aka Jones Chalk & Dawson), 6 Sackville Street, with a long military pedigree going back to Beau Brummell and Waterloo (the battle, not the station!) and very reasonable prices.

Thank you. These were exactly the two recommendations I have also received from others and, of course, I have followed Frog in Suit's very favourable experience with Meyer & Mortimer as recounted elsewhere on this forum. On my next visit to London this will be my first port of call.
