fringed-tongue shoes

Can fringed-tongue shoes (commonly worn on a golf course and with spikes on the soles) be worn with a tweed/flannel/linen suit but for leisure? Now I am referring to the shoes being on a more elegant last (longer last) and without spikes. I am thinking in commissioning them in brown calfskin (though I did see a beautiful model from the 30’s made with white (real) buckskin which caught my attention; not really sure). Please share your opinions.
