I'm reduced to buying from my cobbler. If you discover a good source at a reasonable price -- better, if you can track down one of the few remaining American manufacturers of good shoelaces -- please let me know. I'd buy a gross.

I finally had to make an offer to one of my shoemakers to restock with a dozen black and brown waxed pairs of laces. He asked $2 each.

You can do about as well for what might be a very similar product at Drago Shoe Repair in Penn Station, NY.

Rumors are encouraging about Allen Edmonds as a source, also.

^^ Yes, so far (you never know when these things will change without warning) all the AE branded replacement dress laces I've had from Allen Edmonds have been very good quality--much better than what my local (well-regarded) repair shop carries. When I purchased my two pair of Park Avenues I asked the store manager to throw in a couple of extra pairs of laces, which he was happy to do. The original laces on the black pair lasted four years, and the replacements look like going at least as long. The brown pair is on year three of the factory laces with no obvious signs of wear, but I don't wear them as often.
