Hi. I was wondering if there are rear pockets on bespoke suit trousers?
Thank you

There are if you ask for them and there are not if you ask for without.

When I've failed to ask that pockets not be cut into the rear of my trousers, each pair has been cut with two. That's happened with tailors on Savile Row, in Buenos Aires, and in Hong Kong; here in the States and for the one pair I've commissioned from Naples, I've always remembered to ask -- so far.

I wasn't being flippant - there is simply no standard and you should get what you like. The question is on every tailor's order sheet, so it is hard to imagine that there is really a default.

If I had to guess, you will get pockets if the matter is never discussed, if only because it is more common and the tailor would likely guess that you would have said something if you didn't want them.

I never remember my preference to the extent I have any and so I make up any old answer when they ask. Once I make up an answer, I am usually pretty specific. As a result, I have trousers with no, one and two back pockets. Some back pockets have cut though buttonholes, some have no button. It is all pretty arbitrary for me as I don't much care about this.
