I just want to share my joy with the world:
On the way out of my condo this morning, I found a 7-fold necktie laying in the hallway.
Yeah yeah...I know the right thing to do is post a note saying I found it, but, for now, it's mine!
FOUND: 7-fold necktie.
I'm afraid that some people have completely lost their moral compass.
Infact, I don't even think that someone who would consider keeping, without trying to locate the owner, a nice item such as that tie, should even be a member of LL.
Honestly, this behaviour pisses me off. It's just cheap and vulgar and low.

I agree completely. But, then, I'm irked by the grammatical errors of an apparently native speaker ("I found a 7-fold necktie laying in the hallway"), too.Anonymous wrote:I'm afraid that some people have completely lost their moral compass.

It's very possible that some poor bloke dropped it when carrying a bundle of clothes to the dry cleaner.
About 25 years ago I got to the dry cleaner and discovered that I was missing the vest of a three piece. I retraced my steps, and I was luck enough to find it in the gutter! It had falled from my bundle when I crossed the street.
My recommendation is to post a note on the building bulletin board.

Return the tie, take Mr. Seitelman's advice and post a note.
Its the right thing to do, just think if that was your tie lost.

Actually I wouldn’t be very surprised if another member of the LL discovered he was missing a tie… It's a small world that of sevenfold owners!Anonymous wrote:BTW, I can't find my 7-fold tie. (just kidding)
But natural born thieves don’t tend to be so naively boastful of their crimes. Reading again the innitial post after reading all the replies, I have a vague feeling the fellow never considered keeping the tie at all (“I know the right thing to do is post a note saying I found it, but, for now [until I find the owner], it's mine!”); it sounds more like a childish game of pretending to own a desirable object for a day or two before its rightful owner comes up. I would bet he already posted the note, but now we shamed him for a crime he may have never even meant to commit.
