Cigar lighter question

I must admit some trepidation, in posting this question. For a long time, I have lusted for, a cigar lighter in an exotic skin. However, I believe I have read on this or on another forum that it is gauche and non-U to have a lighter, instead of matches or a torch, to light a cigar. Is that true? And how do cigar lighters differ from other lighters? Is the fuel different?

Cigar lighters differ from regular lighters in that cigar lighters have a larger flame. I regular lighter will work fine, though maybe a bit slower. Just make sure you get a butane lighter and not a zippo type petrol lighter as the smell from the latter lingers.

I believe that a mix of elegance and practicality can safely be adhered to in this instance.

I personally carry a small butane "micro torch" that I use when outside for lighting my cigars. Although it is not elegant, it's fierce flame both warms the foot of my cigars perfectly in even the windiest weather, and then lights them evenly so that my beloved cubans don't "canoe" all the way down and spoil my relaxation!

When indoors, I use cigar matches as I find it a satisfying process using them to warm and then light my cigars.
